Cure Plantar Fasciitis Pain
Plantar Fasciitis is an extremely irritating conditions, especially if it doesn't seem to be going away. It starts as out a mild foot pain that just continues to progress and get worse.
There are three things you should be doing in order to relieve Plantar Fasciitis. The first is to see a podiatrist. One of our podiatrists at the American Foot and Ankle Specialists will determine the severity of your plantar fasciitis, if there is a tear, and the best podiatry treatment to quickly and efficiently heal your plantar fascia band.
Using a podiatrist is helpful since it moves you in the right direct toward getting better with good podiatry treatment. Some other things you should be thinking about are a combination of strengthening exercises, stretching exercises, and soft-tissue massage.
Stretching exercises such as calf stretches and plantar fascia band stretches are essential in maintaining a healthy loose environment for the foot so that it has the ability to heal. Also, tight muscles are one of the main causes of why this condition might only seem to get worse.
Strengthen Weak Muscles
Once you are confident that your muscles are not overly tight, then you can focus entirely your efforts on strengthening the weakened plantar fascia band. Strengthening exercises like toe curls or walking barefoot help to build the plantar fascia band up while it is in it’s weakened state. This is extremely important for treatment because with strengthening exercises the band will continue to get weak and succumb to more and more cell damage.
Finally, soft tissue massage will loosen the muscles, create blood flow to the area, and get rid of any scar tissue in the area. Scar tissue prevents healing which is why using soft tissue massage, with your hands preferably, is so important. Once the scar tissue is largely gone, increasing healing occurs.
Soft tissue massage also creates blood flow to the area that provides much needed nutrients to the weakened plantar fascia band. Between all four treatments, podiatry, stretching, strengthening, and soft tissue massaging, there is a great chance that the pain or much of the pain will disappear.
If you can still feel a small bump in the plantar fascia band, this is probably a small tear. This will take time and strengthening exercises to heal. Also, certain treatments may help to accelerate the repair of a tear and you should ask us at our office about this when you come in for a visit.
Importantly, if you do have a small tear, the above treatments make sure that the tear doesn't become worse.
